This interactive workshop will seek participant input to a digital-transformation-for-development (DX4D) scorecard that can be used to evaluate and improve DX4D projects, strategies and policies.
Based on a review of digital-transformation-for-development (DX4D) research, policies and strategies, the Centre for Digital Development at the University of Manchester has developed a set of DX4D principles and a draft DX4D scorecard. We now wish to improve and finalise the scorecard through input from ICT4D practitioners.
Following a presentation of the draft scorecard, the workshop will mainly consist of group discussion and plenary inputs from participants leading, hopefully, to a better, co-created version of the scorecard that participants and others in ICT4D can use.
DX4D is not the same as the digital transformation promoted by global North consultancies and others. A space needs to be created within the ICT4D community to reflect on and identify development-specific good practices for digital transformation if DX is to help address wicked problems, deliver the SDGs, and not contribute to further inequalities.
The workshop aims to co-create a scorecard output that will be of value to ICT4D strategists and policy-makers in improving the development impact of digital transformation.
